I consider my style of care to be “modern” in that I recognize and respect the traditional midwife and her practices. The art and soul of grandma midwife…But, I combine my trust in birth and the natural process with the education and research that we have today.
“Modern midwifery care” is focused on the modern woman, by a modern woman. I recognize and respect that you want to educate yourself and make decisions for you and your baby. That you want to come into your power, or feel stronger in your power by experiencing an empowering birth. I understand that you want to bring your baby into this world in a peaceful, loving setting, by way of a gentle birth. I know that you want a change from all the fear that surrounds us as a culture–that you want love, respect and support for you and your baby as you go against the grain. That the baby you created was in love, not fear, and that birth is very similar. I know that, despite your confidence and strength, you are not afraid to ask for help, and are looking for a caregiver not afraid to give it. That you are looking for someone to share and assist in your birth vision –another woman that has been through it many times, both personally and professionally.
Normal birth does not have to be a medical event. I encourage you to explore the alternative!
My care for you and your baby is about YOU! I will visit you each and every time at your home, so that you are comfortable and welcome me in your space. I want to get to know you, your family and how you live, so that my presence at your birth is that of a knowledgable and trusted guide.
